Barrow Neurological Institute has been selected by the National Football League (NFL) to provide neurological support during this year’s Super Bowl in Phoenix. 

Dr. Javier Cárdenas, medical director of the Barrow Concussion and Brain Injury Center; and Dr. Taro Kaibara, Barrow neurosurgeon; will be on the sidelines during the game to provide neurological specialty support to the physicians of both teams. The appointment is part of a NFL guideline that places independent medical specialists on the sidelines at all games to better address concussions. The Barrow physicians were selected for the NFL’s Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant program based on Barrow’s renowned neurological treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries including concussion.
