It's been announced that San Francisco Orthopaedic Surgeons is joining Dignity Health Medical Foundation and will change their name to Dignity Health Medical Group – Saint Francis/St. Mary’s. The prestigious group of orthopedic surgeons has worked collaboratively with Dignity Health St. Mary’s Medical Center for years to provide unparalleled orthopedic care and expertise to the Bay Area.
“We share the same mission with Dignity Health to deliver state-of-the-art comprehensive orthopedic care,” said Dr. William Montgomery, managing partner, San Francisco Orthopaedic Surgeons. “We look forward to continuing the advancement of orthopedic care as part of Dignity Health Medical Group – Saint Francis/St. Mary’s, implementing techniques to help our patients heal faster and get back to their productive lives.”
There is nothing that current San Francisco Orthopaedic patients need to do as a result of this announcement. They can continue to see their same surgeon and keep existing appointments. Their health plans will not change but billing and paperwork will reflect the new Dignity Health Medical Group – Saint Francis/St. Mary’s name.

One of the oldest orthopedic groups in the United States with roots stretching back to 1938, San Francisco Orthopaedics has four board-certified orthopedic surgeons and two orthopedic physician assistants. Their doctors are fellowship-trained in spine surgery, joint replacement, and sports medicine and are considered to be among the leaders in their fields of expertise.
